Southworth Engines Large Duplex (Twin Cylinder) Steam Boiler Feed Pump
This is an item from my collection. Made by Don English of Jubilee fittings, a very well known professional model engineer, this is an excellent example of a "Southworth Engines" Large Duplex (Twin Cylinder) Steam Pump. The pump is double acting & will move a good volume of water and is therefore suitable for feeding a large boiler. The engineering standard of this pump is good, and it will even pump air - !
The pump has been test run only, both on live steam & compressed air, and the pump will run at a very slow rate, almost like a clock on low steam pressure.
At 80psi, the pump really does pump, the flow being about the same as a half open mains water tap.
The model features a "scale" displacement lubricator, fully functional drain cocks and a fuctional air damper reservoir on the water outlet.
The pump is mounted on a nicely machined solid aluminium base, so it also makes a beautiful display piece. It is painted in standard "Stuart Turner" green.
